Transformative retreats for leaders

Testimonials

Stories of transformation

Journey of Wholeness felt like stumbling across an oasis after being lost in the desert for a long season. The content, leaders, and fellow cohorts provided a safe space to be seen as a person and not just a minister. I found healing and restoration in unexpected areas of my soul thanks to JOW.

While there is a false narrative, especially among Asian pastors, that ministry is primarily about sacrifice, it is through retreats and cohorts like Be Free that we are able to invest in ourselves, to receive more of Christ’s mercy and grace that enables us to be better and healthier pastors.

P23 is different from other church retreats. It's like going to a spiritual spa full of rest and restoration for your soul. It provided the space needed for me to slow down from the busyness of life. The retreat was truly led by the Holy Spirit, which allowed me to have such a memorable time of deep connection with the Lord.

I began my cohort experience heavy-hearted, running on low with a lot of burdens. Each retreat was insightful, but I did not experience much change. But as we end, I see how God used ALL of the sessions to bring me to where I am now — having a healthy view of God, being hopeful about the future, and feeling so loved and seen by people. I had to trust the process, and the fruit was so worth it!

Recognizing that performance-based thinking is the source of many of my anxieties and fears in both life and ministry, I feel like I have direction for how to seek healing, and there is hope for life to be different!

Through this retreat, I was given space to reflect and deeply connect with God. Through each exercise, I could feel a shift in my heart. It was so subtle, yet so powerful. I came back with so much peace and assurance of God's promises.

FAQ

Answers to your questions

Why cohorts?

According to Barna, one of the leading reasons pastors and ministers are considering leaving full-time ministry is the experience of isolation and loneliness.  We believe that deep and lasting formation happens in the context of community and relationships.  Our aim at B&C is to create sacred, safe, shared spaces for Asian American faith leaders - spaces for meaningful, life-giving connection with God and with others. To that end, we keep our cohort sizes intentionally small, usually about 20 people, to foster genuine community and deeper relationships.

Are these cohorts for Asian American faith leaders only?

Yes. Our cohort offerings are designed exclusively for faith leaders who identify as Asian American. However, we may occasionally offer a spot to non-Asian American faith leaders who are serving primarily within an Asian American faith context.

Is there a fee to participate in these cohort offerings?

Thanks to the generosity of our financial partners, we are able to offer these life-giving cohort experiences at minimal cost. Because of the financial commitment that we make upfront for each participant, there is a small non-refundable deposit fee to reserve your spot in the cohort. The biggest investment is your time.

Are scholarships available for these cohorts?

We have a limited number of scholarships available for those experiencing financial difficulty. Please notify a team member to find out more details.

What does the usual rhythm of a cohort offering look like?

Cohorts meet in-person once a month for either 3-day/2-night retreats (usually the first and last retreat) OR full-day retreats (typically 9am-5pm).

What happens if I cannot commit to all 5 or 3 retreats in-person?

Our retreats are designed with a group-oriented and praxis-centered approach, which requires participants to meet in-person for these retreats. If you cannot commit to attending all retreats in-person, we kindly ask that you apply for a future cohort offering when your schedule permits.

How can I find out more about each cohort offering?

If you need help deciding which cohort program is right for you, please contact us and we’ll provide more information.

“Because our souls can get distracted by all the voices fighting for our attention, the space of our souls can be healthy or unhealthy. When our souls are healthy, we have a clear view of ourselves and God. When they are unhealthy, our views of self and God become distorted.”
– Cindy Lee, Our Unforming
